Toxic building syndrome
Toxic building syndrome also known as Sick building syndrome
(or SBS) is a combination of problems, usually related directly to air quality and linked with a person's indoor
habitat. A World Health Organization report of 1984 looked into the problems and concluded that up to 30% of new
and refurbished buildings worldwide may be a linked to symptoms of toxic building syndrome/SBS.
Sick building causes have been attributed to the
charecteristics of some types of building materials, volatile organic compounds (VOC's), molds inadequate
ventilation of ozone, light industrial chemicals and a lack of adequate fresh-air intake. It is therefore
imperative that buildings are adequately ventilated, especially following refurbishment or newbuild.
Our range of ventilation equipment can help combat toxic building syndrome by
removing the toxic air and replacing it with fresh air.
